ISRO calls off Chandrayaan-2 launch due to 'technical snag'

New Delhi, July 15 (IBNS): The launch of India's second moon mission- Chandrayaan-2- was called off due to a 'technical snag', Indian Space Research Organisation said.

ISRO said it observed the technical snag in the launch vehicle system at one hour before the launch.

ISRO said a new date for the launch of the Chandrayaan-2 will be announced later.

"A technical snag was observed in launch vehicle system at 1 hour before the launch. As a measure of abundant precaution, #Chandrayaan2 launch has been called off for today. Revised launch date will be announced later," ISRO tweeted.

The take off was scheduled to take place at 02:51 am from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, the country’s only launch site.

The 20-hour countdown for the launch of the prestigious second lunar mission, Chandrayaan-2, commenced at the spaceport of Sriharikota on Sunday morning.

The countdown started at 0651 hrs on Sunday morning,according to ISRO Chairman Dr K Sivan.
