Assam: Forest officials rescue five elephants from muddy pond
Guwahati/IBNS: The officials of the forest department of Assam’s Goalpara district rescued five wild elephants with the help of locals after the animals got stuck in a muddy pond in the lower Assam district on Thursday.
Five wild elephants, including a calf, got stuck in a muddy pond at the Choibari area near Lakhipur in Goalpara district on Wednesday night.
According to the locals, a herd of elephants came to the area from the nearby hills in search of food and five of the herd got in the pond on Wednesday night.
On Thursday morning, some villagers noticed the stranded and they had immediately informed local forest officials and police.
Later, forest officials, police had rescued the wild elephants from the pond with the help of local villagers.
