Guwahati: Forest department officials have rescued an injured elephant calf in Assam’s Nagaon district in the wee hours of Tuesday.
With the help of local villagers, forest personnel rescued the elephant calf from a drain at Tapatjuri tea garden area under Kathiatoli forest range office.
According to the local villagers, the calf was separated from an elephant herd and fell into a drain.
A forest official said that they rescued the elephant calf with the help of local residents.
“The elephant calf had received injuries after falling into the drain. We immediately called veterinary doctor and treatment is going on,” the forest official said.
