12 Indian districts did not report fresh COVID-19 cases in past 28 days: Govt

New Delhi/IBNS: Giving some ray of hope, the Indian government on Thursday said 12 districts in the country did not report any COVID-19 positive case for the past 28 days.

"Now, we have 12 districts that did not have a fresh case in the last 28 days or more (8 new districts have been added to the list)," Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry, said during his daily press briefing.

"78 districts where no case has been reported in last 14 days (33 new districts in 9 states added to the list)," he said.

There are 21,393 COVID-19 cases reported in the country so far, the official said.

  Agarwal said 1,409 new cases have been recovered in the past 24 hours.

He said 388 people recovered from the disease during this period.

He said 4,257 have so far recovered from the disease.

There are 16454 active COVID-19 cases in the country so far.

The country has recorded 681 deaths so far.
