Afghanistan starts COVID-19 vaccination drive
Kabul/UNI: Afghanistan started the COVID vaccination drive with a ceremony at the Presidential Palace, here on Tuesday.
Earlier this month, India provided 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca’s vaccine to Afghanistan.
The country President Ashraf Ghani, along with other dignitaries, was present during the launch of the vaccination drive.
Initially, security forces, health workers and journalists will be administered the first dose of the vaccine.
So far, the war-torn country has registered 55,646 COVID cases and 2,435 deaths.
It is pertinent to mention that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has approved the vaccine, which is being manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII), Pune.
