Ahmedabad international airport starts screening passengers for Zika virus
A doctor and an assistant from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) are screening of passengers at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad from Wednesday.
However, the media quoted the airport authorities as saying that the screening is not compulsory for passengers and the medical team is on duty for 12 hours, mostly at night.
The mosquito-borne Zika virus is suspected of causing serious birth defects.
