Assam breaches 33,000 mark in COVID-19 tally, over 1200 police personnel tested positive
Guwahati/IBNS: Assam has witnessed a rise in COVID-19 positive cases leading the state tally to breach the 33,000 mark.
The state has reported 1348 new cases for the deadly virus in last 24 hours and with the new cases, the state's tally surged to 33576.
Seven more patients died due to COVID-19 infections in the state in last 24 hours taking the state death toll to 86.
Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, 1348 new cases detected in the state in last 24 hours.
He tweeted – “1348 new #COVID cases ( Guwahati - 155 ) detected in Assam out of 21742 tests done in last 24 hours. Our low positivity rate of 6.19% is encouraging. Total cases 33576, Recovered 24040, Active cases 9447, Deaths 86.”

On the other hand, 1208 police personnel of the state have also tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.
Out of them, 936 police personnel have recovered and 187 have rejoined duty.
Four police personnel who were infected by the new virus, have died so far.
GP Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) tweeted – “1208 personnel have tested positive till date out of whom 936 have recovered. 187 have rejoined duty. We’ve unfortunately lost four colleagues till date.”

On the other hand, more than 250 personnel of other security forces have also tested positive for COVID-19 in the state.
