Assam : Doctor-turned-cop runs COVID-19 care centre for his colleagues
Guwahati/IBNS: Dr Robin Kumar – a young IPS officer and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Barpeta district in Assam- has won the hearts of many people by performing the dual duties as a COVID-19 warrior – a police officer and a doctor.
A 2013 batch IPS officer Dr Robin Kumar – who is a specialist in medicine (MBBS, MD) and a gold medalist, it helps him to provide medical treatment to the needy people during the pandemic situation.
By wearing the Khaki uniform, Dr Robin Kumar is happy to utilize his medical experiences for the needy people during this crisis hours.
Recently, Dr Robin Kumar held a medical camp for the police personnel age above 50 years at Barpeta police reserve and he conducted medical check-up to 95 police personnel.
The SP of Barpeta district is also running a 50-bedded COVID-19 care centre with four ICUs for the police personnel and their family members at Barpeta police reserve.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, our doctors are overburdened, overstressed. So I come forward to share their burden as a doctor. A medical camp was held for the police personnel age above 50 years and I checked their health conditions, if there is any symptom of COVID-19. A total of 95 police personnel were attended in the camp,” Dr Robin Kumar said.
Before joining the police force, Dr Robin Kumar had served in the Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital for over two years.
He did his MD from Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
