Bangladesh registers 70 new COVID-19 deaths

Dhaka: Bangladesh, the country which has witnessed a deadly COVID-19 outbreak, registered 70 new deaths due to the virus in the past 24 hours, media reports said on Sunday.

The total death toll due to the virus now stands at 26,563.

The caseload rose to 1,514,456 with 2,430 samples tested positive in the 24 hours to 8 am Sunday, according to data released by the government, reports bdnews24.

Dhaka logged 31 fatalities and 1,571 infections, the highest among the eight divisions. Chattogram tallied 20 deaths and 236 cases, the news portal reported.

COVID-19 virus infection cases have been recorded from more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
