Centre introduces security code in CoWIN app to eliminate data entry errors

New Delhi/IBNS: To eliminate data entry errors about vaccination status, the CoWIN system will introduce a four-digit security code starting Saturday, the Health Ministry has said.

In some instances, the Ministry noted, citizens who had booked their appointments but could not go for the vaccination received SMS notification that a shot has been administered to them.

On conducting an enquiry, a data entry error was detected.

The new feature will be applicable for citizens who have done online booking only to get a vaccination slot.

It will also reduce the chances of impersonation and wrongful advantage of flexibilities provided in CoWIN for facilitating vaccination coverage, the Ministry has said.

Citizens have to provide the security code to the person inoculating which will enable them to procure the digital certificate for being vaccinated.

Upon non-receipt of confirmation SMS, citizens have been advised get in touch with the vaccinator or the vaccination centre in-charge.
