Chikungunya toll in Delhi rises to 11

New Delhi, Sept 15 (IBNS) : Five more deaths from chikungunya were reported on Thursday in the national capital, taking the toll in the vector-borne disease to 11, media reports said.

According to The Times of India, five deaths have taken place at Apollo Hospital.

Most of the victims were aged 80 or above.

At least 1,000 people have tested positive for Chikungunya, while more than 1,500 are said to be affected by  dengue. .

The situation in other parts of the country remains grim as well. While West Bengal has reported 5,129 dengue cases and 22 deaths.

The disease has affected 5,183 people and claimed nine lives in Odisha.
