Coronavirus: Assam govt directs DCs, health department officials to keep alert

Guwahati/IBNS: Amid the deadly coronavirus outbreak, which has claimed over 3000 people globally and many cases are detected in India, the Assam government has taken all preventive measures across the state and directed all districts Deputy Commissioners (DCs), health department officials to keep alert.

Assam minister of state for health Pijush Hazarika said that following the coronavirus outbreak, the Assam government has taken all adequate, preventive measures and deployed several medical teams in all airports in the state and screening the incoming passengers.

“The state government is very serious over coronavirus. We have set up medical teams and deployed them in all airports. We had identified 55 suspected persons who came from China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and also monitored them. Out of 55, two people were found to be were suffering from fever. We brought them to the hospital and took them into the isolation wards. Later, we came to know that, they test negative for coronavirus infection,” Pijush Hazarika said.

He further said that no coronavirus has been identified in Assam so far but the state government is very seriously monitoring it.

“We are monitoring it on a regular basis and all preventive measures have been taken,” the Assam minister said.

On the other hand, the state government has directed all Deputy Commissioners of the districts, principals of all medical colleges, health department officials to create awareness and sensitize the people of the state.
