COVID-19 : 1178 new cases detected in Assam, death toll rises to 105

Guwahati/IBNS: With four more deaths, the COVID-19 toll in Assam has mounted to 105.

Four more persons succumbed to the deadly viral infection in the state in the last 24 hours.

According to the reports, one patient each from Karimganj, Kamrup (Metro), Tinsukia and Jorhat district died due to COVID-19 infection.

Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said 1178 new COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in the state in the last 24 hours.

He tweeted – “1178 new #COVID19 cases detected out of 19943 tests conducted in last 24 hrs. We have been able to maintain a low positivity rate consistently (today- 5.91%). Kamrup (M): 268. Total cases 42904, Recovered 31442, Active cases 11354, Deaths 105.”

With the new cases the state tally has now increased to 42904.

Out of the new cases, 268 cases have been reported from Kamrup (Metro) district.

The state has so far conducted over 9.30 lakh tests for COVID-19.

With 27544 samples per million population, it is fifth best across the country.
