Covid 19 claims one more life in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Coronavirus claimed one more life in Odisha taking the total toll to 18 while Covid positive cases rose to 6350 in the state with 170 fresh cases from as many as 14 districts.
Health and family Welfare department sources said a 68-year old male Covid positive from Ganjam district succumbed to the virus. He was also suffering from the co-morbid conditions of Hypertension and Diabetes.|
With the latest death during the last 24 hours, Covid casualty in the most hot spot Ganjam districts went up to 9.
Four deaths were reported from Khordha district , three from Cuttack and one each from Puri and Baragarh district.
Besides, 18 covid deaths, seven more covid patients had also died in the state but the authority attributed their death as other than covid.
Meanwhile, the complete shutdown announced by the government on every Saturday and Sunday in eleven worst hit districts infected by coronavirus , crippled life as all offices and business establishments were closed, vehicles were off the road except those engaged in the essential services.
Official sources said out of 170 fresh covid positive cases reported in the state during the last 24 hours, 143 were from various Quarantine centres and 27 local cases.
They included a maximum 58 from Ganjam district followed by 19 each in Khordha and Nabarangpur district, 16 each from Rayagada and Gajapati district and Cuttack ( 14).
The state capital Bhubaneswar reported 16 positive cases taking the total tally in the city to 274 out of which 138 have been cured and discharged from the hospital and 132 active cases are under treatment in the hospital.
Sources said all the 16 positive cases detected from the capital city have been shifted to the covid hospital.
Covid has claimed three lives so far in the state capital.
