Covid-19: One more death takes toll to 182 in J&K
Srinagar/UNI: The death toll continued to rise unabated with one more person dying due to Covid-19 in Kashmir on Monday, taking the total number of fatalities due to infection in the Union Territory of J&K to 182.
With these deaths, 146 people have lost their lives due to infection in 39 days, and 166 people in 53 day in J&K, where the COVID-19 positive cases have surpassed 10,500-mark.
Official sources said that a 46-year-old man, a resident of Sopore in Baramulla, was admitted to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) for bilateral Community-Acquired pneumonia (CAP) with Thrombocytopenia (a low number of platelets in the blood) and multiple myelomas (a cancer of plasma cells).
“The patient, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died at around 0600 hrs on Monday,” they said.
On Sunday, 10 people - including an 11-day-old baby, 80-year-old woman, 47-year-old woman and 75-year-old man from Kulgam, a 65-year-old man and 55-year-old man from Baramulla, 55-year-old woman from Ganderbal, two patients from Srinagar and 55-year-old patient from Budgam -- died due to Covid-19.
Ten districts of Jammu have reported 17 fatalities while 165 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in ten districts of Kashmir.
With these fatalities, the death toll due to COVID-19 has risen to 44 in Srinagar, which is the worst affected district in J&K in terms of casualties. Baramulla stands at number two with 35 deaths. Ganderbal district recorded fourth death due to COVID-19 on Sunday.
The number of deaths has swelled to 21 in Kulgam while 14 people each have lost their lives to the disease in Anantnag and 13 in Budgam. Shopian with 16 deaths is at number four. Ten people have lost their lives in Kupwara, five in Pulwama and three in Bandipora.
As many as 48 patients -- including 10 persons from Baramulla, 12 from Srinagar, six from Kulgam, three from Anantnag, Kupwara and Budgam, Jammu region, two each from Shopian and Ganderbal, one patient each from Pulwama, Bandipora and a BSF jawan -- died due to COVID-19 last week.
As many as 41 people - including nine from Srinagar, 10 from Baramulla, five each from Anantnag, three from Kulgam, Budgam and Shopian, two each from Kupwara and Bandipora, one each from Jammu and Ganderbal - died due to Covid-19 between June 29 and July 5.
