COVID-19: West Bengal registers 59 new deaths
Kolkata/UNI: The COVID-19 toll in Bengal rose to 6,900 with the death of 59 persons on Sunday, while the tally touched 3,77,651 with 3,987 new confirmed cases.
According to the latest State Government Health bulletin, the active cases accounted for 36,761, while the number of discharged cases stood at 3,33,990.
The percentage of discharged rose to 88.44 per cent.
The bulletin said the total number of samples tested stood at 46,00,882 with 44,457 tested in the past 24 hours.
While the city recorded the highest number of 2222 deaths so far, surrounding districts of North 24 Parganas and Howrah came second and third respectively with 1589 and 741 fatalities.
South 24 Parganas accounted for 467 deaths, the toll in Hooghly stood at 319, Darjeeling 140, Paschim and Purba Midnapore 209 and 194 respectively, Malda 85, Murshidabad 97, Nadia 152, Paschim Bardhaman 102, Purba Bardhaman 74,Jalpaiguri 87, Uttar Dinajpur 54, Dakshin Dinajpur 54, Birbhum 53, Alipurduar 76, Kalimpong 15, Cooch Behar 52, Purulia 28, Jhargram 11 and Bankura 76.
