COVID-19: West Bengal reports 2,434 new cases, 46 more deaths, toll crosses 1500 mark

Kolkata/IBNS: With 2434 fresh infections and 46 more fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in West Bengal has reached 67,692, including 19,900 active cases, 1,536 deaths and 46,256 discharges, reports said on Thursday.

According to a bulletin issued by West Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the past 24 hours, 2140 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 68.33 per cent from 67.60 per cent.

Officials said that Bengal had tested 8,74,397 samples till date with a record number of 18,042 tests conducted in 57 testing facilities in the state in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Thursday started Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) in the city.
 

On the first day, as many as 50 tests were conducted in south Kolkata's Chetla area where 10 of those samples were reportedly found positive for Covid-19.   

State officials said that, currently, 3,351 persons were kept in government quarantine centres and 31,424 people are under home surveillance in the state.
