Delhi Police appeals to people to follow Covid-19 guidelines ahead of festive season
New Delhi/UNI: In the wake of rising COVID-19 cases and amid the scare of a second wave, the Delhi Police on Saturday appealed to people to celebrate the festivals at home and urged them to follow the Covid-19 guidelines strictly.
Pointing out the Delhi government's ban on public celebrations and gatherings, congregations during upcoming festivals like Holi, Shab-e-Barat, Navaratri, the police warned of strict action against those violating the guidelines.
Ahead of Holi, the Delhi Traffic Police has made elaborate arrangements to ensure the safety of commuters.
Also, the police said that various teams have been deployed at different locations to find out the erring motorists.
Police warned that those indulged in drunken driving, using a mobile phone while driving, over speeding, and crossing red light signal, will have to pay heavily as their driving license will be seized and they are also liable for suspension for a period of a minimum of three months.
Earlier, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) had said that people are not allowed to go out and play Holi in large numbers.
"Delhi Police appeals to the public to celebrate Holi with their family members at home. Strict legal action will be taken against those found playing Holi outside in large gatherings," the police said.
