Half of US population fully vaccinated against COVID-19: White House

Washington: The White House on Friday announced half of the US population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The data was revealed by the government at a time when various corners of the globe is witnessing a spike in the Delta variant of COVID-19.

White House Data Director Dr. Cyrus Shahpar tweeted: "Friday just in: +821K doses reported administered, including 565K newly vaccinated. 7-day average of newly vaccinated is up 11% from last week and 44% over past 2 weeks. 50% of Americans (all ages) are now fully vaccinated. Keep going!"

America remained one of the worst COVID-19-hit nations in the world.

The virus is first believed to have originated from China.

It has now spread across the globe.
