Heatwave conditions prevail in west Rajasthan and Delhi

Pune/UNI: Heatwave conditions observed in isolated pockets over west Rajasthan and Delhi.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over Punjab, west Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi; at many places over Himachal Pradesh and east Madhya Pradesh; at a few places over Bihar and west Madhya Pradesh; at isolated places over Saurashtra and Kutch.

They were markedly below normal (-5.1°C or less) at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh; appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at most places over Lakshadweep.

The highest maximum temperature of 44.2°C was reported at Sonepur (Odisha).

Thunderstorms were observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today) at isolated places over Jammu Division, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, west Rajasthan, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, west Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and South interior Karnataka and at many places in Lakshadweep and at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Uttarakhand, coastal Karnataka, north interior Karnataka and Kerala and at isolated places in Gangetic West Bengal.

Mainly dry weather has prevailed in Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat region, Saurashtra and Kutch, Marathwada and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
