Heavy rainfall likely in South India in upcoming 24 hours
Pune/UNI: Heavy rainfall is very likely to take place in isolated areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and south Kerala during next 24 hours, predicted the Indian Meteorological Department in a bulletin here today.
It further said that thunderstorm, accompanied with lightning, is very likely to occur at isolated places over south Tamil Nadu, south Kerala, east Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during the period.
Cold wave is very likely to sweep across isolated chunks of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the period.
Dense to very dense fog is very likely to occur in some regions of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh early on Sunday morning.
Dense fog is very likely to prevail in isolated sections of north Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, interior Odisha, Manipur and Mizoram during the period.
Thunderstorm had occurred at isolated segments over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during past 24 hours.
Rain or thundershowers had occurred in most zones of Bihar, west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh during the period.
They had occurred at many tracts in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, east Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Tamil Nadu during the period.
They had also occurred at a few stretches in Haryana and Lakshadweep during the period.
Isolated belts in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, east Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat Region, Saurashtra, Kutch, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Kerala also received the showers during the period.
The Northeast Monsoon was active over Tamil Nadu, while it was weaker over coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Karnataka during the period.
Dry weather prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, west Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Karnataka and Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the period.
The lowest minimum temperature of 4.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Sikar (east Rajasthan).
Very dense fog occurred in isolated pockets over Rajasthan early on Saturday morning.
Dense fog prevailed in isolated locations over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Manipur during the period.
Moderate fog prevailed in isolated areas over Jammu & Kashmir and east Madhya Pradesh during the period.
Visibility fell down to 25 metres each at Ganganagar and Bhilwara, 50 mtr each at Amritsar, Bhiwani, Kumaon and Imphal, 200 mtr each at Gulmarg, Ludhiana, Sidhi, Satna and Rewa early this morning.
Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in some parts of Uttarakhand.
They were below par in some sectors of east Rajasthan.
Night temperatures were markedly above norm in Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Telangana.
They were appreciably above normal in some corners of Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu as well in remaining sites of Jharkhand, Bihar and east Uttar Pradesh.
They were above par in some quarters of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Gujarat, Rayalaseema, Kerala and coastal Karnataka as well in remaining locales of Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, west Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. They were normal over the rest of the country.
