India adds 75,083 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, tally crosses 55 lakh

New Delhi/IBNS: India, which has been battered by the Novel Coronavirus pandemic despite months of lockdown, on Tuesday added 75,083 Covid-19 cases taking the tally of infections beyond 55 lakh.

With the fresh cases, the Covid-19 tally in the country has touched 55,62,664.

1,053 people, who were infected with the virus, died in 24 hours between Monday and Tuesday mornings, taking the toll to 88,935.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Monday told the Indian Parliament that Covid-19 vaccine is likely to be available by early 2021, as 1.3 billion people of the country are waiting for a cure for the respiratory disease.

Three Covid-19 vaccine candidates are presently in various phases of trials in India.
