India may get normal monsoon rains in 2019: Skymet
New Delhi, Feb 25 (IBNS): India's private weather forecasting agency Skymet on Monday said the country is likely to experience normal monsoon rains this year.
Skymet said it expects over 50 percent chances of the upcoming Monsoon to be ‘normal'.
According to Jatin Singh, Managing Director, Skymet Weather, was quoted as saying by the organization's website: “The El Niño conditions were on the rise in the Pacific Ocean till December last. The temperatures are now declining, and the probability of El Niño is also falling. This will reduce to about 50% by the time Monsoon arrives with a gradual decline thereafter as well. This means it is going to be devolving El Niño year.”
India experiences 70 percent of its annual rainfall during the Monsoon season.
It also decides the success of the country's farm sector.
