India registered 36 new COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours: Ministry

New Delhi/IBNS: The Indian Health Ministry on Monday said 36 new deaths have been reported due to COVID-19 outbreak in the country in the past 24 hours.

The number of deaths in the country now stands at 543.

The Ministry said in the last 24 hours 1553 additional confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported.

"Since yesterday there have been 1553 additional confirmed COVID19 cases, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 17265," Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry, said during a daily press briefing.

He said: "36 more deaths also reported in the last 24 hours."

He said 2,546 people have been cured of the disease.

The Ministry said the doubling rate in the country now stands at 7.5.
