India registers 16,862 new COVID-19 cases, 379 deaths
New Delhi: India, a nation which witnessed a deadly COVID-19 second wave, recorded 16,862 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, as per data released by the Ministry of Health on Friday.
During the same period, 379 people died due to the virus.
Recovery Rate currently at 98.07 percent, which is the highest figure since March 2020.
In the past 24 hours, 19,391 people recovered from the deadly disease.
Active cases account for less than 1 percent of total cases.
It currently stands at 0.60 percent.
India's Active caseload stands at 2,03,678.
Earlier this year, the spike in cases left people struggling for hospital beds and oxygen supply.
The increase in the number of deaths also left crematoriums and burial grounds overwhelmed.
In the last 24 hours, India administered 27,62,523 vaccine doses as the coverage exceeded 97 crore-mark as per provisional reports till 7 am on Friday, the Ministry said.
According to the data, more than 100 crore doses have been provided to states/UTs so far through the direct state procurement.
“More than 10.53 crore balance and unutilised Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states/UTs to be administered,” the data said.
