India registers 22,842 new COVID infections in last 24 hrs, active cases lowest in more than 6 months

New Delhi/IBNS: India, a country of 1.3 billion people, registered 22,842 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said in its daily bulletin on Sunday.

The active cases in the country account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.80%; which is the lowest since March 2020.

India's active caseload currently stands at 2,70,557; the lowest in 199 days, the Union health Ministry stated.

The recovery rate is currently at 97.87%; which is also the highest since March 2020.

Around 25,930 recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours, that increased the total recoveries to 3,30,94,529.

Meanwhile, 90.51 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, the Centre informed.
