India registers over 28000 COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours
New Delhi/IBNS: India's single-day spike in coronavirus cases reached a record high with 28,637 fresh infections reported in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health informed on Sunday.
As per the ministry's bulletin, the country's total tally now stands at a whopping figure of 8,49,553.
The fatality count between Saturday and Sunday morning reached 551, taking the total death toll to 22,674.

This is the third consecutive day that the country is registering more than 26,000 cases per day.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state with 2,46,600 infections so far.
At least 18 people at the state's Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the governor in Mumbai, have tested positive for the contagion.
Meanwhile, legendary actor Amitabh Bachhan and his son Abhishek Bachchan, tested positive for COVID-19 and got admitted at Mumbai's Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital on Saturday.
The veteran actor, aged 77, is now 'stable with mild symptoms', hospital authorities said in a statement on Sunday.
Besides Maharashtra, the other heavily hit states include Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
West Bengal also registered the biggest single-day spike on Saturday. The total tally in the state mounted to 28,453, including 9,588 active cases, 906 fatalities and 17,959 recoveries, the state health department said.
