India's COVID-19 cases breach 2 million mark

New Delhi/IBNS: India's coronavirus cases crossed the grim landmark of 2 million on Thursday evening as the country's total tally now stands at 20,06,760.

The Asian nation is presently behind Brazil, which has 28.5 million cases and the United States, having over 48 million infections of the deadly virus.

India reported over 56,000 COVID-19 cases between Wednesday and Thursday mornings itself.

As per the Union Health Ministry's data on Thursday morning, there are 5,95,501 active cases while 13,28,336 people have so far been discharged.

With 904 deaths during the same period, the COVID-19 toll in the vast country now touched 40,699.

Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh remain the five worst-hit states of COVID-19 cases.

With over 4.6 lakh cases, Maharashtra continues to be affected maximum by the outbreak.
