Indonesia: 7.5 earthquake hits Central Sulawesi

Jakarta, Sept 28 (IBNS): An earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter Scale hit central Sulawesi in Indonesia on Friday, officials said.

It was felt shortly after a 6.0-magnitude quake hit the area and left one killed, reports said.

As per the  U.S. Geological Survey, the quake hit north of Palu city of the country.

Initially, the tsunami warning was issued by the authority. It was later lifted.

National and Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho told Jakarta Post that on Friday the quake hit the area about 27 kilometers north east of Donggala, at a depth of 10 km. 

The quake was felt at 5.02 pm local time.

The main earthquake was felt in the areas of Donggala, Palu and Poso, reports said.
