Jammu and Kashmir: Govt sets up health club at Panchayat level to check COVID-19 spread
Srinagar: In order to keep a check on the COVID-19 spread in villages and towns of JK UT, the government is going to set- up health club at Panchayat level across the Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the government, the health club at Panchayat level in collaboration with Panchayat raj institutions would do screening and identification of suspects, pre-symptomatic, symptomatic and very mild cases of infection.
The Sarpanchs would be designated as the chairman of the health club. The government will ensure proper training to the teams through health and medical education and rural development departments.
The health clubs will oversee the availability of masks, pulse oximeter and other essential drugs required in tackling the virus. All the health clubs will work in coordination with block medical officers and will be incorporated with the nearest health sub-centre for any logistical support.
Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a massive rise in the number of Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of infected people till Tuesday to 66,261 with 1042 deaths. Earlier, the Srinagar district administration had conducted mass testing of shopkeepers in the city to plug the further spread of the disease in the community.
