Kerala registers 7,555 fresh COVID cases, 74 deaths

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: Kerala reported 7,555 fresh COVID positive cases and 74 deaths on Sunday showing no respite from rising number of COVID cases and deaths in the state.

About 10,773 people have recovered from the disease today, a press release from the health department said this evening.

Meanwhile, 74 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 26,865.

About 73,157 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Currently 3,11,361 people are under observation in the state.

3,01,156 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 10,205 in hospitals.

In hospitals, 901 people were admitted with virus Infection today. Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 at 211 wards where strict restriction is being imposed.

In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK. So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified.
