Kerala reports 12,868 new COVID cases, 11,564 recoveries

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: Covid-19 was newly detected in 12,868 persons in Kerala on Thursday while 11,564 patients have recovered from the disease, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.

In a press release here this evening, the CM said, "1,24,886 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) is 10.3 %. A total of 2,31,98,55 samples have been sent for testing till this day."

Meanwhile, 124 recent deaths were confirmed on Thursday due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 13,359.

On Thursday, 18 Local Self Government areas were identified with TPR above 88 per cent in the state.

In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK taking the total to 128, and their samples have been sent to NIV, Pune for further testing.

So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
