Kolkata: CMRI introduces Robotic Ortho Surgery for first time in East India
Kolkata: CK Birla Hospitals -CMRI has introduced Robotic Ortho Surgery for the first time in Eastern India, promising to cure patients suffering from knee related troubles.
Speaking on the issue, Simardeep S Gill, COO, CK Birla Hospitals, Kolkata, on Saturday said, "We are only the first hospital in East India to adopt it successfully."
He said the hospital is focussing on adopting new technology.
"The human touch will always be there but technology will help human beings in doing their work," he said.

Rakesh Rajput, director-Department of Orthopaedics, CMRI, said the knee replacement technology is a solution to high end complicated replacement procedures which enables surgeons to deliver more predictable outcome along with increased accuracy.

He said: "It is equally beneficial for people with knee ailments, who intend to return to their active lifestyle sooner, and elderly people who are at risk of undergoing a knee replacement."
Some patients were present in the event who shared their thoughts on the treatment.
One of them, Prasanta Das, a 55-year-old patient, said he was delighted with the outcome of the surgery and is already walking and the road to recovery was just 2 days after the surgery.
“I thought a machine will operate on me! But that was not true at all. Dr Rakesh Rajput explained the system to me and told me that it's a great opportunity that the most advanced technology is available right here in our home town," he said.
Sadhana Pal, a 63 years old female patient who navigated through indescribable pain under the supervision of Rajput could not contain her happiness of being able to walk freely post-surgery.
Patients Sunita Seth, Sova Samaddar and Mihir Kumar Kar also shared their experiences during the event.
