Kolkata/IBNS: The British Deputy High Commission, Kolkata, Indo-British Scholars’ Association (IBSA) and Earth Day Network jointly felicitated the winners of the World Environment Day photography competition at the British Club Kolkata on Friday.

A photography competition for all age group (Junior and Senior) was organised to mark the World Environment Day this year. The theme of the contest was ‘Only One Earth’.

Yemi Odanye, British Deputy Head of Mission to Kolkata said: “It is a wonderful experience to celebrate such stunning visual imagery all saying one thing in particular – we all care for our planet Earth! I am delighted to have the support from IBSA and Earth Day Network for this competition.”

Rajive Kaul, President IBSA said: "I am delighted that on IBSA’s Silver Jubilee Year our outstanding team of Hon. Secretary Saptarshi Kar, Chair of Programs Reetasri Ghosh and Youth Council Chair Ashwika Kapur have organised a truly wonderful Photography contest in partnership with the British Deputy High Commission and Earth Day Network. This all India contest attracted over 430 entries of extremely high quality photographs from 115 cities. I do look forward to this becoming an annual event for IBSA”.

Karuna Singh, Regional Director Asia, EARTHDAY.ORG said: “Earth Day Network India’s focus is to reach out to governments, businesses and citizens to ‘Invest In Our Planet’ so that Earth remains habitable for humans.  Our efforts are inspired by the global NGO EARTHDAY.ORG that began with the first Earth Day 52 years ago and today engages with 50,000 plus organizations worldwide to take the environmental movement forward."

Ashwika Kapur, Natural History Filmmaker, Chair Youth Council IBSA said: "This was a lot of fun to judge. The photographs displayed a great deal of artistic flair and passion for the subject, and some from the junior category were particularly impressive."
