Moderate earthquake hits Bay of Bengal

New Delhi, May 22 (IBNS) A moderate earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter Scale hit the eastern coast of India on Wednesday, said reports on Thursday.

The earthquake had its epicentre in the Bay of Bengal.

Tremors were felt in Delhi, Ranchi, Varanasi, Kolkata, Gaya, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai and Visakhapatnam.

At least 50 people were injured in Odisha in a stampede triggered by panic after the earthquake.
