Peerless Hospital organises Medical Safety Conference 2022
Kolkata/IBNS: Peerless Hospital earlier this month organised Medical Safety Conference 2022 on the occasion of World Patient Safety Day for the first time in eastern India.
The Medical Safety Conference aims to raise awareness amongst doctors, patients, students, caregivers, stakeholders in various fields like Oncology, Gastro, Critical care, Paediatric, Domiciliary Care, Telemedicine and also its medico legal implications.
On the occasion, Dr. Sujit Kar Purakayastha, MD, Peerless Hospital, said, "It is the combined responsibility of the medical profession across the globe to participate in the initiatives taken by WHO on very important issues, such as Patient Safety.
"We have been trained to practice medicine and the first principle we have been taught has been 'Do No Harm'. This is the single most important lesson that we should try and implement in our practice. Despite its importance, the profession continues to inflict suffering and pain by inappropriate and unsafe prescription of medicine."
Surgical Oncologist Dr. Diptendra Sarkar says, "Desperate and random use of antibiotics in the community has also created an unprecedented situation. With very few molecules in the pipeline, the situation is truly one of panic."
