Swine flu deaths close to 1100
According to the health ministry 34 more people have died of the H1N1 virus in different parts of the country over the past 48 hours.
Gujarat and Rajasthan has reported maximum number of deaths-265 and 261 respectively.
While Madhya Pradesh has recorded 153 swine flu deaths, the toll is 143 in Maharashtra, 57 in Telengana, 46 in Karnataka, 42 in Punjab, 21 in Haryana, 12 in Andhra Pradesh, 10 in Delhi, eight each in Himachal Pradesh and West Bengal and seven each in Jammu and Kashmir and Kerala.
Health Minister JP Nadda had earlier declared that the government was serious about tackling the disease and all necessary steps had been taken. He had also said that a move was underway to set up H1N1 testing facilities in every state as the number of laboratories at present capable of testing the virus was not enough.
