Lucknow/UNI: Through implementation of measures such as the intensive 'Trace, Test & Treat', prevention through vaccination and partial corona curfews to decimate the pandemic, as many as 29 districts in Uttar Pradesh have been able to bring down the fresh and active covid-19 cases to zero.

The drop in fresh and active cases in Aligarh, Amethi, Amroha, Ayodhya, Baghpat, Balia, Basti, Banda, Bhadohi, Bijnor, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hardoi, Hathras, Kaushambi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Mathura, Mirzapur, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Rampur, Shamli, Sonbhadra and Sitapur indicate complete elimination of the fatal virus from nearly 40 percent of the state, officials here on Sunday said.

Signalling control on the spread of the virus, out of the 2,34,971 samples tested in the span of the last 24 hours, Uttar Pradesh limited the number of fresh infections to 18. In the same period, another 31 patients recovered from the infection.

The fresh infections have also been reduced by over 38,000 from its peak which was 38,055 capped on April 24. Where major other states have been witnessing a greater surge of fresh Covid-19 infections (daily cases ranging from 22,000-2,000), Uttar Pradesh has restricted the daily-case count below 100 for nearly 56 consecutive days.

The Yogi-led state, despite being most populous has also been registering a steady decline in the number of active covid-19 cases in comparison to several other sparsely populated states such as Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

The active covid caseload in Uttar Pradesh stands at 235 whereas, other states like Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu account for a heavy active caseload of 354, 52,025, 2,50,097 and 16,315, respectively.

Ramping up of daily testing to detect the virus has helped in the fight against the second wave. True to the spirit of 'trace, test, and treat' policy, daily sample testing has ranged between 3 lakh to 2 lakh in Uttar Pradesh.

Emerging as a leader in conducting maximum COVID Tests, Uttar Pradesh has tested as many as 7,34,53,081 samples for the novel coronavirus infection so far.

Uttar Pradesh was the first state to have crossed the milestone of conducting seven crore Covid tests. The testing was particularly ramped up to reach the rural pockets of the state.

Despite aggressive tracing and testing, Uttar Pradesh’s positivity rate (TPR) — which shows the level of infections among people — stands at 0.01 percent.
