Rajnath reviews progress in police reforms
Rajnath Singh while reviewing the status of funds utitlization provided for Police Modernization in the country directed that a stronger monitoring mechanism should be put in place to ensure proper and timely utilization of the funds.
The Home Minister directed that since the financial powers to the Directors General of Central Armed Police Forces have been enhanced on October 16, 2014, the CAPFs should ensure timely and quality procurement of equipment for the forces.
Union Home Minister also discussed different reports on Police Reforms and their status of implementation.
Rajnath Singh mentioned that the accepted recommendations of these reports should be implemented in consultation with the States at the earliest.
The Union Home Minister also discussed the status of the National Security Commission and State Security Commissions in the country including the seven pillars forming part of the Supreme Court’s directions in its 2006 judgment delivered in the case related to Prakash Singh and Others versus Union of India & Others.
