Prominent classical artistes unite to voice protest against terror
Kolkata, July 31 (IBNS) Joining the protest against worldwide violence, classical artistes recently assembled on a podium to declare the triumph of music over bombs.
"Terror can't be the last word, it can't dictate our movements. We are here to sing for peace and unity," Pt Kumar Bose told IBNS on the sidelines of,'Music of India' concert - a collage of dance, songs, recitals and instrumental music - depicting our unity in diversity.
"I am composing rhythms to register my protest against bloodshed and I am sure the misdirected youth can also respond to music if it touches their soul. Only music can stop violence," he says.
Pt Bose, the internationally known tabla artiste, narrated how recent attack in a Munich Mall as well as in Nice caused deep mental anguish for him having been to these places many times and friends over there.
Another eminent tabla artiste Pt Subhankar Banerjee, echoing Pt Bose, points out all the attacks had been taking place in places known for art, culture and liberal values.
"This can't deter the practitioners of music and art. We speak for peace and crossing all barriers and we will," he says.
Eminent sarodist Pt Debojyoti Bose says the theme of the concert to uphold the inherent symphony among the divergent strands in Bharat also talks against all types of violence and terror including religious intolerance.
The concert, organised by Bose Foundation of Art and Culture in collaboration with PC Chandra Gardens, represented the music of each region of our country and the socio-political issues.
The narration was done by art lover and well known entrepreneur Satyam Roychowdhury.
