Kolkata, Aug 5 (IBNS) : Chaepani, a Kolkata-based artistic forum, recently launched a music video called 'Baishe Ashar', which has been directed by their founder-director, Debasish Sen Sharma, who is also an independent film maker.

The forum focuses on an interdisciplinary approach towards expressions and communication through various forms like theatre, film, storytelling and visual design.

Samantak Sinha is the lead singer of the album; the lyrics have been penned by Arghyadeep and the music composed by Saptarshi Routh (who is a Director with Gartner Consulting).

Sinha said this was his first project with Chaepani and  he enjoyed working with them.

He said, "Chaepani is trying to promote original independent music which is the need of the hour. And this tremendous effort that Chaepani is promoting is appreciable."

Debasish Sen Sharma said, "I directed this music video not to convey anything but to refresh the old memories of one-sided love stories. Samantak is a versatile singer, I am a big fan of his work. I had a great time working with Samantak."

The launch was followed by a round table meeting on Bengali original music and digital media where Sen Sharma and Sinha were joined by well-known film maker Srijit Mukherjee and Gartner Conlusting's Soumik Chatterjee.

"Digital Media is a huge challenge for us," said Sen Sharma. "In digital media, figures are not very tangible. YouTube remains an independent and accessible platform to reach out to a large number of people."

Said Srijit Mukherjee, "YouTube views are very organic and have gained a steady number of followers, which in fact is a very good thing. It is a good medium to propagate independent original music."
