Guwahati/Assam: Anvi Nagori, an 11-year-old Kathak dancer from Guwahati, has made history by setting a new record for performing 100 spins in a minute, as recognized by the Assam Book of Records.

The remarkable achievement took place on June 5, with Anvi's mother, Puja Nagori, and her dance teacher, Debasish Saha, enthusiastically cheering her on, reported EastMojo.

Anvi, who aspires to become a contemporary and hip-hop dancer, attributed her success to her mother, whom she considers her inspiration and role model. The young dancer expressed her excitement, stating, "It is a special moment for me and has boosted my confidence immensely."

The path to this accomplishment required two years of preparation for Anvi. She diligently practiced the Kathak Chakradhar, a famous spinning technique, before attaining recognition from the Assam Book of Records.

Anvi's mother, Puja, came up with the idea of setting a record for 100 spins in a minute, and since then, it became Anvi's immediate goal, leading to regular and focused practice sessions.

Anvi's journey in dance began at the tender age of 4, with unwavering support from her father, Kamal Nagori, and her brother, Nishit. Their encouragement and belief in her talent have been instrumental in her progress.

The certificate issued by the Assam Book of Records described Anvi as a student in the sixth grade at Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti School in Guwahati. It acknowledged her achievement of performing the fastest 100 Kathak Chakradhar spins in one minute, which took place at her residence in Guwahati on June 5, 2023.

The Assam Book of Records (ABR) recognized Anvi's exceptional skills and officially placed her name in the state record category.

Kathak Chakradhar is a significant step in Kathak, one of the eight major forms of Indian classical dance. Puja Nagori, Anvi's mother, expressed her joy and pride at this turning point for their family.

She shared, "It has brought positive vibes in me to take my daughter ahead. I am joyous and proud." Furthermore, Puja mentioned that Anvi became the first person in their family to hold a state record.

Looking forward, Anvi's next target is to secure a place in the Guinness Book of World Records by achieving 120 spins in a minute.

Currently, the world record for the maximum number of spins in a minute is held by Gatha Raut, a 9-year-old Kathak dancer from Pune, who achieved 116 spins in 2017.

Anvi Nagori's remarkable feat in the field of Kathak dance is a testament to her dedication, hard work, and exceptional talent. Her achievement not only sets a new record but also inspires young dancers across the nation.
