Despite academic challenges, Nazir chose to follow his heart and left school during the 12th grade to pursue his love for poetry. His debut poetry collection, 'Thaer Angnechin,' published in 2014, beautifully captures the essence of Kashmiri heritage and earned him the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar in 2019, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Beyond his own creations, Nazir has also focused on promoting the works of lesser-known poets, many of whom were illiterate or lacked guidance. Through his tireless efforts, he has brought these talents into the spotlight, providing them with the recognition they deserve.
Nazir's songs, including 'Bhaangi Draayokh,' 'Chzaangi Maa Aakhi Chey Praraan Mouj Chhey,' and 'Raji Maliun Trawun Puom,' have resonated deeply with the people of Kashmir and gained popularity on platforms like Radio Kashmir.
He acknowledges renowned Kashmiri singer Aijaz Ahmad Rah for providing him with a platform to showcase his lyrical prowess.
Looking ahead, Nazir remains committed to promoting the Kashmiri language and hopes for its recognition as a classical language. He emphasizes the importance of the new generation embracing and preserving their mother tongue and actively engages in seminars, workshops, and collaborations with cultural institutions to champion the cause of Kashmiri language and culture.
As Nazir prepares for the release of his first collection of Urdu Ghazals, he advises aspiring artists and poets to immerse themselves in literature, appreciating its depth and richness.
He underscores the significance of prioritizing one's mother tongue as a means to make a substantial contribution to the artistic realm.
Sagar Nazir's journey serves as a testament to unwavering dedication and hard work, proving that there are no shortcuts to success in the world of poetry and music.
