Kolkata, Aug 11 (IBNS): More students than ever before will collect their Cambridge International Examinations results on Tuesday, following a surge in popularity of Cambridge qualifications in India and around the world.

Globally there has been 15% growth across all Cambridge qualifications this year, including 8% growth in entries for Cambridge International A Levels and 23% for Cambridge IGCSEs.

There are now over 340 Cambridge schools in India, where over 70,000 exam entries for Cambridge qualifications were made in June, with a 12% increase in entries compared with 2014

Ruchira Ghosh, Regional Director for South Asia, Cambridge International Examinations said, “I’d like to congratulate all students for their hard work, and their teachers and parents for their unrelenting support for the exams this year. This year marked an important year for Cambridge schools in India – with the first March examination series. I’m delighted that this went well and that our community of Cambridge schools in India continues to grow.”

Savita Venkat, Principal, Bombay Cambridge School said, “The Cambridge curriculum helps students to learn and acquire the core skills and competencies of life like critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration, creativity, communication and digital literacy. They become lifelong learners and apply everything they learn during their developmental stages, in real life. The coursework helps students acquire a scientific temperament and holistic, global mind. It broadly helps students transform themselves into global citizens who are independent thinkers, responsible, research oriented and confident.”

Vanita Uppal OBE, Director, the British School in Delhi said, “The British School has been a Cambridge International Examinations school for about three decades now. The Cambridge IGCSE curriculum promotes interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking and skills development which are critical prerequisites for student success. Students are encouraged to become independent enquirers and at the same time learn to work collaboratively with others. Integrating technology with learning, sharing best practice and actively participating in a global professional learning community has enabled teachers to be abreast of best international practice.”

Kiran Merchant, Principal, APL Global School in Chennai said, “Cambridge International Examinations has played a vital role in fulfilling the mission of our school. The curriculum has allowed us to practice the pedagogy that not only helps to meet the need of every type of learner but also encourages them to be independent in their learning. The flexible program has helped most students take subject combinations that cut across the conventional groupings thereby giving them a head start in the international education. It has helped APL Global School to be a school that will address the needs of every child through a very learner centric approach.”
