Online technical solar training can also be availed by students

After completing online training through SEI, one will have the opportunity to get hands-on training at a solar institute near Kolkata.

With the demand for trained manpower/professionals for solar industry leapfrogging in India, such world class training from a globally recognized institute certainly assumes great significance.

Christopher J. Turek, Director of Marketing and Alumni Relations, Solar Energy International (SEI)said, “Solar Energy International (SEI) has been serving the renewable energy sector for over 25 years with over 45,000 students and alumni worldwide from over 100 different countries.  During the last two decades, we have witnessed a great increase of solar energy adoption all over the world. This growth has also refocused our need to provide highly technical training for solar energy practitioners to ensure the highest quality design and installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.”

“Students who go through our rigorous program will be trained on the most up to date technologies and techniques found in the solar industry and can be applied to any market in the world.  Taking courses through SEI's Online Campus not only gives students access to the best curriculum and instructors in the solar industry, but also provides some of the best networking opportunities available through meeting instructors and fellow students from all over the world in the online learning platform,” said Turek.

Highlighting the unique opportunity this new association offers, Turek said, “After completing the classroom theory based training in SEI's Online Campus - students based in India will have the opportunity to go on and receive hands-on training through our training partners at ‘Saurya Urja Niketan (SUN)’.

Speaking on the occasion, a spokesperson of Saurya Urja Niketan (SUN) and EEMPi said, “We are really thrilled and excited to get associated with Solar Energy International, one of the best places to get trained on solar energy. The uniqueness of this association is that one gets the opportunity to get trained at the best online campus on solar energy, supported simultaneously by hands-on practical trainings at our campus by industry veterans and seasoned campaigners in the trade.”

“The renewable energy industry is now termed as a “sunrise” industry. According to an industry report it has been predicted that jobs in the renewable energy industry will rise to more than 3 million over the next twenty years and lead to the opening up of a new range of career opportunities. Developing countries have great potential for renewable energy and among these;solar power - one of the most cost-effective sources of tapping energy has the potential to create more than eleven lakh jobs in the country in the next five years, says a report. While solar energy production has the potential to end the power woes of a country, the added advantage is that it also creates a plethora of new job opportunities for its citizens. The reports says that Solar energy can create up to 1,45,000 MW of capacity and 11 lakh+ jobs in India over next 5 years. For the unemployed youth, the solar sector is ready to present huge careers and business opportunities. Skills required depend on the function to be played in the organisation. The skill set required in solar sector tends to be slightly different from others. Therefore, there is a significant emphasis from the government’s side on training and creating a pool of people for the job opportunities in the renewable and solar sector,” he said.

He added that SUN has already trained a number of students under KVIC(MSME), Govt of India, skill development and entrepreneurship development programme.

The thrust, in that case, also was on practical training. Both West Bengal government and India government are working on a solar mission and SUN will play a meaningful role in that mission by churning out industry-ready professionals.
