GNIT selected as nodal centre for grand finale of Smart India Hackathon 2019
Kolkata, Mar 1 (IBNS); Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, flag ship college of JIS Group, has been selected third time in a row as the nodal centre to organise the third edition of Smart India Hackathon 2019 Software Edition Grand Finale on Mar 2 and 3.
This year it’s the third edition of its Software Edition initiated by All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in collaboration with i4c, MyGov, Persistent Systems, MIC, DEVENT, Deloitte, Cisco, KPIT and Suma Soft along with several Union Ministries as partners.
“It is indeed an honour and a matter of immense pride to be able to organize the grand finale of this very exciting and innovative large scale event that has participation from talents from all across our nation. Simultaneously across 49 nodal centres across India, 1350 teams comprising 10800 + students will be competing nonstop for 36 hours during the Grand Finale to come up with digital solutions to the problem statements. Such exposures foster a spirit of excellence, competition and confidence in students”, stated Sardar Taranjit Singh, Managing Director, JIS Group.
“Smart India Hackathon 2019 is a digital product development competition involving all technological institutes in India with a reach of approximately 200,000 students. This competition is a great exercise that challenges students to think out of the box ideas and innovate on smart applications development that will help addressing major real time problems in our country,” stated Prof (Dr.) Santanu Kr Sen, Nodal Principal GNIT, Smart India Hackathon 2019.
“We are delighted that we have been chosen not only for the third time to be a nodal centre but also to be the only other institute in West Bengal to have the honour of organizing Smart India Hackathon 2019 along with IIT, KGP. We wish all the participants the very best and look forward to great success stories," said Bidyut Majumdar, GM, JIS Group.
The inauguration of the grand finale will start off at the GNIT campus on Mar 2 at 7:35 a.m.
The Chief Guest would be Major General Shresh Bhattacharya.
Also present through video speeches will be Anand Deshpande,Chairman and MD, Persistent Systems and also Co –Chair of organizing committee Smart India Hackathon, Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, PrakashJavadekar, Minister of HRD.
The Grand Finale will go live at 8:25 a.m.
The final day would have Prof (Dr) Phalguni Gupta, Director, NITTTR(National Institute of Technical Teacher’s Training and Research , Kolkata) as the Guest of Honour.
