Guwahati: Recognizing the dire need of technical exposure and true inspiration for the present day school students, the student fraternity of IIT Guwahati are organizing TECHNOTHLON- The International School Championship as a part of their Annual Techno-Management Festival TECHNICHE.

Technothlon is an international school championship organized by the students of IIT Guwahati with an aim to ‘Inspire Young Minds’. In 2004 Technothlon's first edition was held in Guwahati, and now 15 years later it is held in more than 400 cities.

It is ultimate test of logic where students from classes 9th to 12th compete with their logical and creativity skills to win the Grand Prize.

Technothlon has now become an event which serves as an able platform to expose the innovation and creativity of a student in all its rawness.

Conducted in 2 phases - Prelims and Mains, Technothlon '18 witnessed a huge participation from over 500 centres all over the nation.

The students are divided into two squads: Juniors Squad - comprising of 9th and 10th standard students and Hauts Squad - comprising of 11th and 12th standard students, who get separate question papers, set by the students of IIT Guwahati.

The paper is totally different from that of any other competitive examination; being based solely on logic, analytical ability and practical observations and involving no academic syllabus.

The paper is to be attempted jointly by a team of two. The prelims thus require no initial preparation - just the sheer spontaneity and out-of-the-box thinking capability of the candidates is tested.

The top 50 teams from each squad are invited for the next round - Mains which is held during Techniche at IIT Guwahati.

The next edition of Technothlon is to be held in 2019 with the Prelims scheduled for 14th July. Those who make through to the Mains will be invited to the IIT Guwahati campus during Techniche from 29th August to 1st September, 2019, where they will contest in more challenging rounds, trying to bag the championship.

There are various prizes for the winning teams from each squad.

The winners of Technothlon 2018 from each squad earlier received a guided tour of NASA in USA and the runners up received a guided tour of ISRO .

The prizes of Technothlon 2019 remain the same.

Online registrations have been opened from 1st Jan, 2019 and students can register from the site - technothlon.techniche.org

Offline registration can now be done by through the Technothlon Zonal Heads. There contacts are available at https://technothlon.techniche.org.in/contact.

The participants who register now will have access to Technopedia - the Online Practice Module of Technothlon. These are monthly set of questions giving first-hand experience of what the paper of Technothlon is going to be about. Therefore it is advised to register at the earliest so that the students may get access to this monthly series.
