New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the National Education Policy (NEP), which has been restructured by the central government very recently, will lay the country's foundation for the 21st century.

Addressing ‘Conclave on Transformational Reforms in Higher Education under National Education Policy', Modi said, "National education policy will set up foundation for 21st century India."

"There were no major changes in our education system over the years," he added.

He added, "Today, I am satisfied that while formulating the National Education Policy of India - National Education Policy, these questions were seriously worked on. A new world order is coming up with changing times. A new global standard is also being decided."

NEP 2020 emphasizes on ensuring universal access to school education at all levels- pre school to secondary.

Besides, with emphasis on Early Childhood Care and Education, the 10+2 structure of school curricula is to be replaced by a 5+3+3+4 curricular structure corresponding to ages 3-8, 8-11, 11-14, and 14-18 years respectively.
