Record number of students enrol for latest IIM Calcutta MBAEx program
Kolkata/IBNS: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta recently welcomed the 15th batch of MBAEx students through virtual mode keeping in mind the pandemic.
The online inaugural ceremony was attended by Dr. Subir Bhattacharya, Director-in-charge; Professor Bodhibrata Nag, Dean-Academics; Professor Prashant Mishra, Dean-New Initiatives & External Relations; Professor Manju Jaiswal, Chairperson-MBAEx, Professor Abhishek Goel, Chairperson-Placement; Professor Preetam Basu, Chairperson (Designate)-Placement; Alok Chandra-CAO and other faculty members and alumni.
The current batch of the MBAEx program has 80 experienced professionals, including 13 female students.
This diverse cohort of MBAEx-15 comprises doctors, engineers, chartered accountants, architects, consultants, defence personnel, start-up enthusiasts, economy graduates coming from varied sectors like telecom, energy, pharma, aerospace, e-commerce, supply chain, real estate, education, consulting, automobile, banking, oil, and gas, etc.
Dr. Subir Bhattacharya, Director-in-charge, IIM Calcutta congratulated the students and presented a brief recap of the institute's history.
He said, "From laying the very foundation of management education in the country to defining its core to leading the timely change in the industry's perception towards it, we have come a long way in the past 60 years.”
Prof. Prashant Mishra, Dean - New Initiatives & External Relations said, "Since the modest beginning in the year 2006, our MBAEx program has achieved a milestone this year with the highest number of aspirants entrusting their future with us.”
Prof. Manju Jaiswall, Chairperson, MBAEx, said, "We welcome the 15th batch of 2021 with a larger strength and significantly higher number of female students. It is also encouraging to note that 28% of the students have international work experience.”
The MBAEx program of IIM Calcutta is a One Year Full-Time Residential Program meant for executives with more than five years of professional experience.
Last year, 62 students registered for the program.
