Srinagar/IBNS: The Department of the Bioresources under the University of Kashmir in collaboration with the Indian Cancer Society  Sunday held an online workshop on Breast Cancer awareness.

The theme of the programme was 'Breast Cancer Care: Screen for Early Detection, Treatment, Research and Education.'

More than 300 participants from across the country joined the workshop which was organised as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebrated in October.

Kashmir University's Vice-Chancellor, Prof Talat Ahmad, urged that breast cancer awareness should reach the young generation so that they can receive information about the risks factors, screening and early detection.

“We need to pool and share our resources, using the latest technologies for the diagnosis, treatment and awareness about breast cancer,” he said.

KU Registrar, Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir, inaugurated the workshop and discussed the emerging trends of cancer globally.

The Registrar also emphasised the need to have a breast cancer screening-cum detection centre at the varsity's health centre.
